As the winter months drag on, the weeks seem to feel longer and the Archmere workload feels heavier with each night that goes by. The question that’s giving every student motivation to get up in the morning: “What will I get from Starbucks tomorrow morning?”
After the holiday season drew to a close, the popular seasonal Christmas drinks from Starbucks also left. Starbucks, however, still came up with creative ways to keep customers engaged with new seasonal winter drinks to get through the snowy months. From Valentine’s Day specials to new experiments, Starbucks presented a wide variety of new flavor profiles for anyone to enjoy this winter. With the help of a group of Archmere taste testers, we ranked each of the new Valentine’s drinks to guide students on their morning Starbucks runs.
Strawberry Shortcake Frappuccino (6.5/10)- This drink really looks like it fits the season of love. It has strawberry puree to give the frappuccino a lovely pink tint, and it also includes cinnamon syrup. The strawberry flavor was fairly weak, as the cinnamon was strong to the point of overpowering the strawberry. Even though the flavor combo is delicious, the strawberry taste could definitely have been stronger.
White Chocolate Strawberry Cream Cold Brew (8.7/10) – Next up on the Valentine’s menu: the long-awaited Strawberry Cold Brew. This drink paired a creamy White Chocolate Strawberry cold foam with the classic cold brew coffee, and it did not disappoint. “I thought the strawberry flavor added a good balance between the sweetness and bitterness,” said Sophia Czeschin ‘27.
Dubai Chocolate Mocha (7.5/10)- We began by trying the Dubai Chocolate Mocha. This drink is a modern remix of a classic mocha with a pistachio cream cold foam to give off a Dubai Chocolate taste inspired by the TikTok famous flavor. We really enjoyed this drink, and it lives up to its name. “It actually tastes like Dubai Chocolate a lot,” said Audrey Therriault ‘27.
Berry Matcha (6/10)- The vibrant raspberry cold foam made for an aesthetic drink, but did it taste as good as it looked? Our tasters would say that the berry cold foam was the highlight of the latte. “I really liked the berry cold foam, it added a nice fruity flavor to the matcha which I really enjoyed,” said Colleen Burke ‘27. Despite the delicious cold foam, some of us couldn’t get past the classic matcha taste, although matcha lovers might enjoy this drink.
