Meet Mr. Edward McFarland, the new Technology Support Specialist for Archmere! Before starting the new role this summer, he was the technology support manager for Delaware Business Systems, a company that executes point of sales for various restaurants and retail stores around the state.
“A lot of what I did there does apply here at Archmere just because a lot of what I’m doing here is technical support,” said Mr. McFarland about his transition from a corporate to a school workplace. “But it’s a very different, much lower stress environment.”
So far, Mr. McFarland has been enjoying the Archmere experience. “Archmere is amazing,” he claimed. “I have found nothing but really nice people who are always willing to help. The first couple months for me have been awesome.”
Reiterating his advice to his former high school self, Mr. McFarland advises students to branch out and get involved with as many new activities as possible. “If you’re an athlete, check out what the music department’s doing. If you’re a drama kid…go to a sporting event” he said. “Be involved in more than just one narrow path, because you never know what you might find outside of the things you already know,” At Archmere, he is already leaving his impact, helping those who are less comfortable with technology. “He worked with me to set up my new desktop and keyboard system, which I had no clue how to do.” said Mrs. Maher.
