Christmas is known as “the most wonderful time of the year.” It is a time filled with cherished traditions and festivities. Every family has its own unique ways of celebrating the holiday season. Here are some highlights that I found to make the holidays special.
“I just like to smile, smiling’s my favorite” says Buddy the Elf which captures the joy of the holiday season. Every year, families pick out a tree and adorn it with lights, ornaments, bows, and a topper. This tradition kicks off the holiday with cheer and creates memories to remember forever.
Nothing gets me in the holiday spirit more than baking cookies while the air fills with smells of fresh cookies. Whether it is decorating gingerbread houses or icing sugar cookies, the kitchen is the most nostalgic place to be during the month of December. Some families pass down traditional cookie recipes which make the treats unique to their family. Sitting by a fire, watching a movie, or just enjoying quality time with family is always better with a cookie in your hand. The memories that result from baking last way longer than the delicious creations made.
“Seeing isn’t believing. Believing is seeing,” from The Polar Express, reminds us how we have to believe in the magic of Christmas from seeing it. Watching classic movies every year such as Frosty the Snowman, Home Alone, and so many more brings us back to memories made in previous years.
Exchanging gifts with loved ones is also a significant part of the holidays. Who does not fill with joy receiving and shopping for gifts? This is a perfect way to show appreciation towards family and friends. “It’s not how much we give but how much love we put into giving,” said Mother Teresa.
