March Madness? No- February Fracas! This year, there was a huge showout for teams participating in Archmere’s very own “AAIBLAA” league, where students get together with friends to make up teams to compete in 20-minute basketball matches. This year, there were a total of 12 teams—6 male and 6 female. Teams competed throughout the week, as well as on Saturday mornings, and played with determination in front of large audiences. Each team consists of around 5-10 players, along with a coach of their choice- who is allowed to participate in a winter sport. Many teams selected a coach on Archmere’s very own basketball team and were guided with much knowledge of the game. Games were also refereed by members of Archmere’s basketball teams, if not by faculty. Not only does the intramural league allow for students who may not be as skillful or committed to the sport of basketball to play, but Archmere’s players get a chance to referee a fast-paced game. However, just like March Madness, there can only be one true winner. The teams got together one last time on Friday to win their title. For the Doyle’s Dunkers Boys Bracket, the champion “Entourage” took the 2024 trophy against the faculty’s team, filled with teachers and administrators. For the Cooper’s Hoopers Girls Bracket, “Mayo’s Minion Militia” pulled through in a competitive game against their classmates, “The Mordy Niners.” Although they did not come out on top, all the teams fought their battles, some less successful than others.
