Our undefeated Auks won a hard-fought game against the St. Mark’s Spartans on Saturday, October 9th. The Auk offense had a tough time connecting with only 1 touchdown, scored by senior running back Declan Pearson after a 6-yard run. Quarterback Chris Albero rushed for 106 yards and threw for 78 yards.  He also hit a 22-yard FG. Senior wide receiver Matt Dellose recorded 2 receptions for 32 yards, Conor Udovich, 3 receptions for 42 yards.

Junior Ben Mongare described the game and how the team played. He said, “It was a hard-fought game that came down to the wire, but we all came together in the end.”

The St. Mark’s offense was a tough one but the Auks’ defense pulled through holding them to 1 touchdown. Scott Lucarelli had 7 solo tackles and 3 assists, Kieran Udovich, 10 tackles, and a sack, Kevin DiGregorio, 4 solo tackles. In the final play of the game, the Spartans were at 4th and goal with just seconds left but failed to break through the Auk defense leaving the score at a close 10-7 when the clock hit 0. The Auk-Spartan rivalry will not be stopping anytime soon; the Auks are officially 4-0 over the Spartans throughout the last four seasons and move to 5-0 overall for the 2021 season.
