Saturday’s game between our Archmere Auks and Wilmington Friends Quakers was a nail-biter. In a well-fought game, the Auks came out on top. It came down to the final seconds in the 24-21 win, after the Quakers came from behind in the 4th, scoring 2 touchdowns, bringing the score from 24-7 to 24-21. The final drive of the game left everyone on the edge of their seats: if the Quakers forced a turnover there was plenty of time left on the clock for them to come back and win it. In the final play of the game, QB Chris Albero spiked the ball with 30 seconds left to allow the clock to run to 0.0 leading to an Auks victory after all. Albero threw for 270 yards and rushed for 62 yards.  He also had a 30 yard FG on the first drive of the game and was 3/3 on PATs. The Auks scored 3 touchdowns throughout the game, Johnny Kim scoring on 21 yards rushing, Declan Pearson scoring on a 1-yard run, and Max Ewing after a fumble recovery. Other offensive highlights included Matt Dellose’s 5 receptions for 99 yards and Conor Udovich’s 3 receptions for 59 yards. Defensively the Auks successfully held the Quakers off for the majority of the game; Conor Udovich had 2 sacks, Matt Dellose had 1 sack, Ben Mongare had 3 tackles and an interception, and Kevin DiGregorio had 5 tackles and a sack. Be sure to check out the game this coming Saturday at home against St. Marks at 12 pm.
