Pop star Taylor Swift recently announced her 12th album, titled “The Life of A Showgirl,” driving her fans into a frenzy, and publicized her engagement to Chiefs’ football star Travis Kelce. Swift uploaded a countdown to her website that expired August 12th at 12:12AM, signifying her twelfth studio album, and once the countdown went off, the title of her brand new album was revealed to her ecstatic viewers. Swift also joined Travis Kelce and his brother Jason on their podcast “New Heights” on August 13th, in which she revealed the cover of the album as well as the tracklist.
Fans’ speculations were confirmed when it was revealed Sabrina Carpenter would be featured on a song. The tracklist includes “The Fate of Ophelia,” “Elizabeth Taylor,” “Opalite,” “Father Figure,” “Oldest Daughter,” “Ruin the Friendship,” “Actually Romantic,” “Wi$h Li$t,” “Wood,” “CANCELLED!,” “Honey,” and finally, “The Life of a Showgirl” (Feat. Sabrina Carpenter).
Since the announcement of her album, Swift has also released several variants of her album, available for purchase, including the “Sweat and Vanilla Perfume” edition, the “It’s Frightening” edition, the “It’s Rapturous” edition, and the “It’s Beautiful” edition, which were all announced when she made an appearance on “New Heights.” Colleen Burke ‘27, a longtime Swiftie says, “I was really excited, and I was watching the countdown on the website. When I found out it was a new album, that was really exciting. I wasn’t that surprised to see they were engaged because Travis is her 13th boyfriend, and 13 is her lucky number. Obviously they’re getting married.”
On Tuesday, August 26, with a post on Instagram captioned, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” Swift announced her engagement to football star Travis Kelce. When asked about the recent news, Mrs. Finger, administrative assistant in Archmere’s Main Office, says, “I was very excited about it, and I’m very anxious to watch all her preparations for her wedding. I’m particularly interested in what kind of dress she’s going to wear. I think she’s going to wear something ethereal and light, like the Folklore era.” Mrs. Wheeler, also in the Main Office, says, “I’m pretty indifferent because I’m a big football fan, and I care more about that. I am, however, also interested in the dress, and I was inspecting the ring.”
From a dramatic countdown for her surprise album to an engagement announcement, Taylor Swift has captured widespread attention, and now, fans eagerly await details of her wedding and the release of “The Life of A Showgirl.”
