There is nothing like the feeling one experiences when rolling out of bed and seeing school canceled because of snow. After receiving the news, somebody would probably run to the window and look at all of the snow on the ground, or smile and roll over to go back to sleep. Either way, what is there to do on a snow day? What do Archmere students do with their snow days?
Snow days can consist of sledding and snowmen, or a relaxing cup of hot cocoa while watching movies in bed all day. “On a snow day, I relax with some hot chocolate, watch my favorite movies, and watch the snow fall outside my window. It’s a perfect day to relax and enjoy the little moments,” Cecilia Patiño ‘26 said. She likes to use the unexpected days off to relax, restore her energy, and take in the beautiful sights–a very realistic expectation for snow days. Most students enjoy using them as rest days and catching up on their favorite shows that are otherwise put on hold for homework.
While snow days can be relaxing for some, they can be thrilling for others. “On a snowy day I either go sledding with my friends or have a snowball fight with my brother,” Giada Giordano ‘28 said. She uses the day off of school to do fun activities in the freezing snow. Snow days can consist of many different forms of entertainment with all sorts of fun ideas, not just in the warmth of indoors, but also out in the snow. Each person can use their snow day differently and make the best of it.
